Air Conditioner

In broad definition of the term “Air Conditioning”, it can refer to any type of cooling, heating, ventilation, or in general, anything that changes the condition of the air. An air conditioner is an apparatus or appliance that is designed to bring the air temperature and humidity within a specified area to a comfortable level for those who are in that area. Under normal circumstances, this is achieved by using a refrigeration cycle or by evaporation. It is normally done for comfort cooling, especially in buildings and motor vehicles.

Most people tend to think that air conditioning is a relatively new idea and was only thought of in the last century. However, the idea of cooling buildings for individual comfort dates by several hundreds of years. The first people noted to have used channeled water through the walls of buildings to cool them were the ancient Romans. This type of water usage was quite expensive, so only the wealthy could enjoy this luxury. Through the years, different forms for cooling buildings emerged and evolved in different parts of the world. The modern idea that we know today as compression and release was discovered in the mid-1800s. It wasn’t until the early 1900s that these ideas started to develop and be improved. Domestic sales of air conditioning systems grew dramatically during the 1950s.

In general, air conditioning systems work to remove the heat from a specific indoor space, whether it is a home, a room or a large building, through a process of refrigeration. There are three main parts to this process: the compressor, the condenser and the evaporator. All three work to maintain a comfortable temperature in your building.

There are many different types of air conditioning systems to choose from. The one you choose will depend on your needs. You will have to ask yourself some questions of discovery in order to determine which would be the best type for you. For example, what size of room or space do you want to heat or cool? Do you want the freedom of moving the system around, such as a portable unit? Answering these types of questions can help tremendously in the decision you need to make regarding which type of air conditioning system to choose so that you can maximize your comfort levels.
